Wiliwili Festival ~ Sunday February 3rd!   Leave a comment

The 8th Annual Wiliwili Festival hosted by Waikoloa Dry Forest Initiative and Waikoloa Village Towncenter is coming up on Saturday, February 3rd at the Waikoloa Stables from 9am-3pm. The Wiliwili Festival is free and has activities for the whole family! We’ll be bringing together leaders in conservation and cultural preservation from around the island and the State to share their work with the public and information about how to get involved in some of the incredible work going on in our community. Activities will include games and a scavenger hunt for kids, a native plant sale and free lectures and workshops for adults and older children. There will also be live music and food vendors throughout the day. Our famous silent auction will also take place from 9am to 1pm and you can find gift certificates for local restaurants, hotels, and tours as well as art, fashion, collectibles, housewares and more!

WDFI will be hosting guided tours of the Waikoloa Dry Forest Preserve throughout the day with tours leaving from the Waikoloa Stables every hour between 8am and 1pm. Hawaii Forest & Trail will provide transportation for the excursions where participants will see ancient wiliwili trees, learn about the native dry forest ecosystem and the progress toward restoration that WDFI has made since 2011.

The preserve will also be open to visitors from 9am-2pm and trails will be open for hiking. Tours fill up fast and advanced reservations are recommended.

To book a tour, please email jen@waikoloadryforest.org or call us at (808) 494-2208. Please indicate the tour time and number of people you’d like to sign up.

Free lectures and workshops will be occurring throughout the day and are free to attend with no reservation necessary.
