2nd Annual East Hawaii Lilikoi Festival (Hilo)   Leave a comment

2276038782_a682f44f02_z“The event features a cooking contest using Lilikoi as the main ingredient; cooking demonstrations by celebrity chefs; a variety of vendors and educational tables; a Silent Auction; excellent music featuring Bruddah Waltah and other local artists; Keiki activities; Tours of the gardens; and much more. The chefs at Nani Mau Gardens will be selling food and beverages with lilikoi as a primary ingredient. This year we are featuring a beautiful, custom designed lilikoi T-shirt, as well as our best selling revised Lilikoilicious Cookbook.The Lilikoi Festival will raise funds for two non-profit organizations, Rainbow Friends Animal Sanctuary and the Center for Spiritual Living building fund. Big Rock“BIG ROCK (formerly Unkle Boogie) plays a diverse selection of Rock, Blues, Pop, and anything danceable. From Pink Floyd to Santana, Billy Joel to Eurythmics, they’re not afraid to try anything out on the unsuspecting public. “Dubbed “The Voice of Hawaii,” Tani Waipa Kaneao’s musical famiy, Hawaiian roots and her years in the Los Angeles jazz and big band scene come together to entertain audiences around the world and locally on the Big Island of Hawaii with a well of musical knowledge, history and cultural anecdotes.

Tani’s travels have added to her extraordinary vocal ability to interpret jazz standards and Hawaiian favorites. She is accompanied by Loren Wilken, a pianist well-known on the Big Island for his versatility and finesse. Also singing will be special guest Blossom Brown, niece of the great jazz stylist Ella Fitzgerald.”
