Walk to Cure Arthritis Hilo~Saturday April 21, 2018   Leave a comment

Walk to Cure Arthritis is the Arthritis Foundation’s nationwide signature event that unites communities across the country to put an end to arthritis. We aren’t just helping the millions of people with arthritis to live better; we’re charting the course to a cure.

For 70 years, in ONE community after another across the country, The Arthritis Foundation has taken colossal steps to conquer this crippling disease. Our Walk to Cure Arthritis is the largest arthritis gathering in the world, celebrating our warriors, raising funds for research, resources and a cure. Much more than just a walk event, it’s something even bigger than arthritis itself.

Arthritis affects more than 50 million Americans, including 300,000 children. They are warriors. They face relentless pain, a frustrating search for a diagnosis, multiple doctor’s visits and treatment, missed work and school, limited mobility, a maze of medical and insurance paperwork, and the desire to live a full life without the limitations that arthritis can create.

Whether you’re an arthritis warrior yourself or care about someone who is, sign up and WALK to CURE Arthritis.

Relay for Life of Hawaii at The University of Hawaii at Hilo   Leave a comment

Relay for Life or Hawaii at The University of Hawaii at Hilo!

Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in more than 5,200 communities and 27 countries. Volunteers give of their time and effort because they believe it’s time to take action against cancer.

Join in to bring communities together to remember loved ones lost, honor survivors of all cancers, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society make a global impact on cancer.

Event Schedule:

♦️Opening Ceremony~

Time to get started. We kick off the event by honoring everyone who’s been affected by cancer and everyone who has contributed to the success of this year’s Relay season.

♦️Survivor/Caregiver Walk~

Survivors and Caregivers are the heart and soul of Relay For Life events. We honor their strength and courage with every step they take. It doesn’t matter if you were diagnosed 10 days ago or 10 years ago, you can walk while everyone gathers together to cheer you on.

♦️Luminaria Ceremony~

During this ceremony we represent everyone touched by cancer with a Luminaria. Each light represents a life—a life taken by cancer, a survivor of cancer, or a support for a person still fighting the disease. It’s a powerful demonstration that gives people the opportunity to grieve but also offers comfort and hope.

♦️Closing Ceremony~

Our closing ceremony is the time to commit to take action and help lead the fight for a world free from cancer. It’s a time to celebrate what we’ve accomplished together and a time to unify for the work that needs to be done moving forward.
