Waikoloa Beach Resort invites all ‘ukulele lovers to B.Y.O.U. and join in the celebration of Hawaii’s favorite musical instrument, at the Annual Great Waikoloa ‘Ukulele Festival.

The free event begins with a free ‘ukulele workshop at and continues all day with live entertainment on three stages at Kings’ Shops and Queens’ MarketPlace, along with displays, demonstrations, and ‘ukulele giveaways by sponsoring companies.

NYC-based drummer Allison Miller at Kamuela Farmers Market Tomorrow!

NYC-based drummer/composer/teacher Allison Miller engages her deep roots in improvisation as a vehicle to explore all music.

Described by critics as a Modern Jazz Icon in the Making, Miller is the winner of Downbeat Magazine’s 2019 Critics Poll “Rising Star Drums” category and her composition, Otis Was a Polar Bear, is on NPR’s list of The 200 Greatest Songs by 21st Century Women.

She is also Monterey Jazz Festival’s 2019 Artist in Residence, alongside bassist/producer Derrick Hodge and is the first recipient of the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation’s Commissioning Grant. The commissioned suite, In Our Veins: Rivers and Social Change, will premiere in January of 2020

Hawaii Island Festival: Kindy Sproat Falsetto & Hawaiian Storytelling Competition ~ Saturday September 14th!

Kane come out to show their skills to throw their voice in higher registers. They also share the manao of their mele, the songwriter and the hidden meaning (kaona).

This is to honor the late Uncle Kindy Sproat, a true Hawaiian who lived in Pololu Valley, as his kupuna before him. This event has served as a platform for many falsetto singers to share their talents and voices. Many have gone on to form bands and to record their own music.

Pops Goes the Philharmonic will feature classic gems from Broadway and the silver screen by the most recognizable and beloved composers of all time.

Be swept down memory lane with classics by Leonard Bernstein, Leroy Anderson, Henry Mancini, Jerry Brubaker, Bob Krogstad, and more!

Pops Goes the Philharmonic also features live performances by Hawai‘i Island’s own Beth Dunnington and Kat Reuss, with direction by Angel Prince.

The 2019 gala event will be held on Saturday, April 27 and the ticket price includes unlimited tastings at more than 25 food stations, unlimited beer and wine pours from our various sponsors, an all-you-can-enjoy chicken mole bar, signature cocktails, DJ and live music, a fabulous silent auction and all around chocolate-themed fun. Celebrate all things ‘ukulele on Saturday, March 2nd at the 19th Annual Great Waikoloa ‘Ukulele Festival. The free event will feature ‘ukulele giveaways, a workshop by Roy Sakuma, informational booths, and an all star line-up on three stages at Kings’ Shops and Queens’ MarketPlace.

This FREE festival starts with a very educational and fun workshop put on by world-renowned Roy Sakuma and friends at Queens’ MarketPlace. Beginners and longtime players alike can learn Roy’s style of ‘ukulele playing. Many who have come in the past have learned a song or two which are typically performed at either of the Waikoloa Beach Resort Shopping centers.

Hawai`i’s top `ukulele entertainers headline this annual musical extravaganza at Queens’ MarketPlace and Kings’ Shops. Whether you are a resident or a visitor, the rhythmic sound of the `ukulele will bring you back to a time of the beauty and magic of Old Hawai`i. The music will make you dance and be part of this once-a-year event that showcases the unique sound that is known worldwide.

This year’s line-up includes Roy Sakuma, John Keawe, Widdy Loo, Brian Vasquez, and many more. Performances kick off at 11am at Kings’ Shops and 12pm at Queens’ MarketPlace.
